Bug Description

I tried to do an advanced query on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bugs-advanced.

I'm searching for all bugs tagged 'PENDING UPLOAD' and assigned to the group 'motumergers'.

This can be a consequence of specifying an assignee. Would you try the same
search without the assignee and see if it fails?

It seems to work fine without the assignee.

But without assignee this is pretty useless for your use case. We need
a list of bugs with debdiffs to the package attached. Thats not all
"pending upload" bugs, but "pending uploads and assigned to
motureviewers".

We know that. We're just testing to locate the real problem. It seems that the
assignee widget is triggering the bug with some weird database query.

I see your point, and I wasn't suggesting that you shouldn't use the assignee
widget. I was trying to make sure that the problem comes (in part, at least)
from the assignee widget. We already know what makes it slow and how to fix
it, now it's a simple mater of coding. ;)
(And I'm coding it right now)
