Seems you customized the browser to use. Please set it back to the default in System -> Preferences -> Preferred Applications

Well, I get firefox-3.6, but it's the same issue. The binary for the default Firefox has always been firefox, so that's what apport should try to launch. The thing is, that apport just uses the gnome default url handler:
gconftool --get /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command
/usr/bin/firefox-3.6 %s

So, it seems the issue is with Firefox not cleaning up on install, so I'm moving it there.

affects: apport (Ubuntu) → firefox (Ubuntu)

BTW, Martin's right that it's a custom URL setting as it was in my case, so I'm marking this Wishlist. I don't know if we necessarily want to try to purge custom settings like this though.

Changed in firefox (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
