Press F5, it displays the same as it does in Edit mode & Microsoft Office Power Point Viewer 2007.

4) What happens instead is in Slide 2 some icons are distorted in Slide Show versus Edit mode and MSOPPV2007 (please see attached screenshots.tar.bz2).

Unconfirmed regression: OpenOffice Impress 2.4 (Ubuntu 8.04) does not have that issue.

The following powerpoint file has problems rendering properly in slideshow mode.
Slide 2 looks fine in edit mode but if you view the slide in slide show mode the
rendering problems become immediately obvious. There may be other issues in the
file as well but I noticed those issues immediately.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 513128

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Are you referring to pictures missing or out of place?
Could you provide an image of what it should look like?

Notice how on Slide 2 some icons are either missing or distored in Edit mode or Slide Show and how the modes mis-display differently. As well, neither look as they should in comparison to MSOPPV2007 (please see attached screenshots.tar.bz2).

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

Christian Felsing, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please do steps 1 and 2 of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.
