Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Using live CD alpha 2 - amd64 with or without "compiz" my screen is flashing on mouse move or when an application is updating a window.
After a few moments the entire screen comes white, and is not possible to use the system.
<CTRL> <ALT> <F1> for example doesn't works. The only solution is <ALT GR> <SYS RQ> <B> or power off.

I am running Karmic (amd64) without problems.
My system is a HP DV2880 laptop, Core 2 Due with 4Gb RAM and 500Gb of hard-disk.
VGA Controler is an "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)."

Let me know how can I help (more details, logs, others informations and tests).

Thank you.

[This is an automatic notification.]

Thanks for reporting this bug to help making the Intel graphics driver
better. We hear from upstream that a number of bugs (possibly including
this one) have been fixed in the newer DRM code from the 2.6.33 kernel.
I don't know if your bug is one of the ones fixed in this release,
though, but we've prepared a PPA with this DRM update. Would you mind
installing this, rebooting, and testing if the original issue can be
reproduced with it or not?

The DRM PPA is here:

    https://edge.launchpad.net/~apw/+archive/red

Note there could be new bugs... please file these as new reports using
the command 'ubuntu-bug linux' (for kernel or DRM or KMS bugs) or
'ubuntu-bug xorg' if you suspect them to be X.org issues.

At this moment I have karmic with kernel 2.6.33.rc8 running on that machine without any problem.
I tested your 'DRM PPA' (kernel 2.6.32-16) under Karmic on that machine and I didn't see video or others problems. Everything is working fine.

Any further test. Let me know.
Thank you

Thanks for testing Falcone,

It sounds likely that the kernel team will be including the 2.6.33 drm this week, which sounds like it will resolve this issue. I'm assigning to them for tracking purposes.

Marking as fixed; the 2.6.32-16 kernel made it into Lucid quite some time ago, and we've still got the .33 drm backport in the final 10.04 release kernel.
