Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-media

karmic 64-bit on AMD Athlon dual core
with onboard 5.1 soundchip

when using the keyboard to change the volume notify-osd shows volume as 100% (the speaker and line flashes) but if i open up the audio settings, the master volume was at about 60% (there aren't any indications like dB or %) so if i turn the master up to 100% the volume goes up. if i now use keyboard to turn volume down the notify-osd keeps flashing until the master is at the 60% and then notify-osd shows the volume changes correctly.
this behaviour is always the same, so if now using keyboard to vulume up it goes until notify-osd flashes and the master in audio-settings is at 60%.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Media is available in both Lucid and Maverick and we are wondering if this is still reproducible in any of those versions, May you please test and give us of feedback about it? Thanks in advance.
