Hi Callum,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 487816

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

I have a bit of a problem with trying to reproduce that bug, I cannot remember how to! Another problem is at the moment I have just moved and have VERY slow Internet, It will start a download at a decent? speed of 50KB/S (not really decent) and slow down while downloading to about 8KB/S. I could have a guess what the problem could be but I'm sure it won't help or is wrong anyway I think as in my Mac's com.apple.dynamicpager.plist it makes the Virtual Memory (/var/vm) work and inside that folder I see swapfile0,1 etc. Notice that it is dynamicPAGER which is where I'm getting this from. My guess is that because all Apple's Notebooks have a sudden motion sensor that when there's sudden movement (hense the name) it will park the hard drive's read and write heads. I think that if I knocked tge computer hard while it was Reading or writing a page file then an error like that would happen? As soon as I get faster Internet somewhere I will try and download the ISO.
