Amarok, and other KDE apps are translated upstream. To avoid duplicate and useless work Ubuntu French translators won't fix those translations.

In that case, please make sure that upstream fixes get imported into
Launchpad! If you cannot make sure that this will be done automatically,
i.e. when a new package version for the current Ubuntu development cycle
is uploaded into the archive, please import the updated translations
manually into Launchpad.

The purpose why we do this in Launchpad is to provide translation
updates, even when the application itself is not going to be updated any
more for stable releases.

Further more, any string changes which have been done in Ubuntu/Kubuntu,
need to be translated in Launchpad, upstream won't know about them!

So, please, keep translation updates in sync with upstream.

Thanks
Arne

Hi ! (sorry for my bad english)

I see the french KDE SC translator's website. amarok is completly translated in french. not in kubuntu.

Jajax: I'm also a member of kde-francophone team, and no Amarok's
translation is not complete. There's only a few string missing, so be
patient. kde-francophone is a small team and they do an incredible work!

Sorry Arne, but your answer is totally useless, this will not help to
improve Amarok's translations!

I've already heard this several times.

Ubuntu French translators try to provide the best of their work but they
have no time to track each patch on each package that could modify some
strings (even if we do that for a few well know packages). Before each
Ubuntu release we try to check for every package that appear incompletely
translated in Launchpad if there's a more complete upstream version. That's
the most we can do. Don't forget that all Ubuntu translators are voluntary,
they have a job and a family and they give time for free.

We will never (that's not totally true ;)) improve a translation in
Launchpad if there's an upstream team. We think that translations should be
provided for everybody (not only for Ubuntu users) with the same quality.
Launchpad translations should not be a fork of upstream translations.

My answer is probably badly worded, sorry for my approximative English.

Hi (sorry for my bad english)

comme je le disais, amarok est complément traduit pour vous mais pas sous kubuntu, c'est tout ;)
(as I say it, amarok is completly translated for you but not for kubuntu, that's all)
