Hi,

I have a similar (see attached). I see menu items, but don't see buttons and icons.

My video card is Intel:

roger@satch:~$ lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Everything works fine since I've upgraded to Karmic, except Openoffice 3.1.

At first, I couldn't see the menu item, as in Wayne's Screenshot.png... Only the underline char was showing up. I fixed that by going to Options / Openoffice / View and changing 'Screen font antialiasing' to 12 pixels. The default was 1! Disabling antialiasing also works. After that, I see menu items... but I still don't see buttons.

Tried uninstall and reinstall all openoffice packages; tried removing, adding and messing around with icon styles. No lucky so far.

Regards,
Roger

Found the problem.

When I'm using two monitors (laptop display and an external lcd
monitor), the buttons do not appear in Openoffice. When I disconnect
the external lcd monitor (logout and login again) the buttons appear.

Something to do with Xorg? But only related to Openoffice? The other
applications work well (firefox also).

Regards,
Roger

Hi Wayne, given that the fix suggested in the bug you pointed to in comment #2 solved the issue, I assume you solved it by switching to EXA. Since EXA is now the default for -ati I think we can consider this bug solved. If you do find the problem still exists in Karmic, please run 'apport-collect 466050' to attach information necessary for debugging.
