Resolution you are running at is 800x480, which is quite low. I've tried running at both 800x600 and 640x480 to try to reproduce this but have been unable to so far. If you run gnome-display-properties (alt-f2 to run it if you can't click the icon) and switch to another resolution, and possibly even switch back, what happens? Does it correct itself, or do the icons still overlap?

Right, resolution is quite low, but that's the maximum of this small screen. I switched to a lower resolution - no change. And back to 800x480 - still the same. So, no correction. Do you need some screenshots?

I also see the overlapping icons in the "System" category. One row of icons is "too high" and therefor the icons below are overlapping the rows below of them. I use an Acer Aspire One with 1024x600 pixel. See screenshots.

On my system the overlapping icons are fixed since the last update of netbook launcher.

Resolution does seem to be a contributing factor, but the problem,I believe, stems from the interface not resizing the "box" that controls the grid that the Icons are set on. To replicate the problem on any resolution add more places to nautilus the icons will start to overlap and or multiply . The opposite to this problem occurs if you. Uninstall several applications from Games or Graphics enough to shorten the list to less than a full page. The "box" remains the same size as it was before the games were uninstalled and the last line of Icon boxes stretches to the bottom of the box.

I can also add to this as I see the same thing at 1280x800. I am wondering if the dpi is a contributing factor to this issue. See attached screen shot and xdpyinfo.

I have exactly the same annoying bug in my mini 9.
I think it was resolved in one update in Alpha5 but now in Beta with all the updates it is the same problem.
I have 1024x660 resolution. The highest that supports the mini 9.
I happens in "System" and in "Folders" sections.
I attach screenshots.

Same problem with Asus eee pc 1005ha, 10'' screen, resolution 1024x600. The problem appears after using it for a while and installing some apps (gparted, vlc, eeepc-tray, etc.). After a complete reinstallation, the problem appeared again.

As I mentioned in bug #435805 (comment #8) I think this is a separate problem.
