Hi Pedro

Thanks for the reply. But I am really new to Linux and did not
understand what you meant. Please provide me a step by step guide. You
asked me to run Totem in GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1. I am not sure where to
do that.
Please help!!

You need to start a terminal windows from program->accessories->terminal. There you enter the command "GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:2 totem 2> log.txt". This will start totem and create a log file called log.txt in your home directory. Once the error has occurred you can exit totem and attach the log file to this bug report.

Hi Lars.
Thanks a lot for the step by step guide. That was really very helpful.
I have attached the log file in this email. Expecting a soon reply..
Linux is super cool but sometimes it freezes. But I am learning so that
is not an issue at this time. Its really fun....

> Wow.. Hats off..To fix one codec issue I have to change the entire OS? I never remember Microsoft saying such answers...To be honest Pedro, linux has long way to go inorder to compete with Microsoft. Instead of releasing OS in every 6 months why dont you guys think of releasing a solid OS in 2 years. Take 5 years or 10 years but it should be solid. I am from India. Not every one has internet connection. If we install Linux we need to have internet connection to listen to a MP3 song even though it is a widely used format. I dont remember Microsoft giving such an option. Linux is just a hype I would say. i have a quade core processor and my system runs extremely slow. And now its full of bugs. You tube videos wont play, DVD wont play, It tkes time to open a single apps. none of the answers has a valid solution. In windows th etroubleshootin steps are simple and it is universal. If you have bugs jus run the updates. But it doesnt have like the one which we have in linux.
Thanks
Jim

Thanks for the solution ( If it was a solution). I was using windows
will continue using it. Linux is jus a small game for me. Wantedd to
see watz in it (The hype which you guys have created.).. And I used to
save videos with a web link. I thought Linux is more stable, faster,
uses less resources, virus free and easy to use. But you guys have to
learn a lot from Microsoft. You guys are proud for nothing. Are you
proud for creating a desktop that can be converted in to Mac or windows.
But you guys shud be annoyed cos they dont want to see Linux enviornment..

the mp3 decoding is patented and can't be shipped without paying the right to use those, you do pay your microsoft os so they can use some of this money to buy your mp3 decoder, you don't pay ubuntu though so this can't be done there

Lemmiwinks,
I was not trying to be arrogant. I was kind of frustrated. Its been a
month since am having this issue and am not getting any solution. I am
doing a kind of marketing for Linux too. I am from India and I have made
so many Microsoft users to switch on to Linux. You would react the same
if you are in my situation. A brand new computer and if it performs like
a 10 year old computer...

Thanks
Jim
