Bug Description
Hardware/Software
Tested on Dapper fully updated latest XGL etc. Running on AMD Sempron with 1G ram Abit N8 motherboard and NVidia Video card. Running Kubuntu version as primary desktop but Gnome and enlightenment installed as well.
What happens
When running X (either logged in or at the DM prompt) if XGL is enabled, using the key stroke combo of shift-bksp will cause the X session to restart. The expected key combo of cntrl-alt-bksp still works. This happens regardless of DM (gdm xdm kdm) from Ubuntu or if I use entrance which is self built. It only happens if XGL is activated in the DM if I then turn it off and retstart the DM this key combo no longer works.
Expected:
The key combo of shift-bksp shouldn't do anything.
Ability to reproduce:
Everytime.
This one can be really annoying when editing or writing as sometimes the pinky on the shift key doesn't get lifted fast enough and I hit the bksp and poof that scathing rebuttal on slashdot is lost forever *grin* Essectially it happens so fast that it took me quite a while to figure out what was causing the "crash" and then narrowing it down to XGL and the key combo. Note too if say I do shift-alt-bksp it will also crash as what is needed is the combo of shift and backspace + anything or nothing else.
i have the same problem with my vaio sony and xgl!!
When i press backspace so long , the x server restart!!
