Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

In Ubuntu Jaunty opening a .m3u file with Firefox only offers it to be opened with Totem. I think Rhythmbox would be much better default action for .m3u files.

Currently user must manually choose to open with other application and search the rhythmbox binary from file system. This is way too difficult for average user.

the rhythmbox desktop claim the mpegurl mimetype too if firefox doesn't list it that's a bug there

I noticed that .pls files are also not handled. This bug still exists in Karmic.

Almost 2 years have passed and nothing has been done for this, except Ubuntu has switched to Banshee as the default player. Maybe it's time to forget about this bug and do something for Banshee (which has the same issue).

Has anyone tested if this has been fixed in raring? The bug is not invalid if the behavior hasn't been changed.
