Bug Description

compiz crashes the laptop (reboot occurs automatically) when using dual monitor.

if I have the Visuals Effects set to None, the system works fine, including dual monitor in Twin view. A few minutes after setting the Visual Effects to Normal the laptop crashes.

I am not sure compiz is the culprit, actually probably it is not since I believe compiz is not active when Visual Effects are set to Normal.

In any case, compiz works nicely when I don't have the second monitor connected. The laptop crashes if I set the Visual Effects to Extra.

The second monitor is connected using the HDMI output.

nvidia is 8400M
Nvidia Driver 188.44
hp pavillion dv6000
Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Sorry... I have a few big projects now... no time to test Karmic Koala
but I'll probably test it on release.
