The same for me on karmic (64bit). I installed alpha4 and upgraded regurarly. Notifications are placed in the middle of the screen from the upgrade to 0.9.19-0ubuntu1, the same of the screen capture above.

Same positioning problem for me on Archlinux x86_64, with notify-osd 0.9.19-1

Hi, it's actually a feature. From 0.9.19 changelog:
"experiment with centering bubbles vertically, sync. bubble always goes above center-line, async. one always below it"

Johannes, does that mean that it is moveable because putting it in the middle of the screen is quite frankly annoying and defeats the stated purpose of making notifications less intrusive or demanding action.

Well I'm just a regular end user, so I can't tell for sure. But as far as I know that's not possible (yet). If you look at the comments in the blog linked in my last post, you'll see many users don't like the new position (and that notify-osd isn't very configurable right now), so I guess the notify-osd team will change that in the next version. But I really can't speak for the notify-osd team, I just say it's very likely.
