Bug Description

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu on a HP Touchsmart IQ522, following http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/hp_touchsmart
after adding "options snd-hda-intel model=mobile", the sound is working, but I can't get the mic to work.

I've tried the other models : desktop,laptop,thinkpad... no result

I've noticed that every time I open the gnome-volume-control all the microphones are muted.

Does a fresh boot from a 9.10 desktop/live cd also exhibit this symptom?

You should try to upgrade to the latest version of the alsa driver
(see http://www.linwik.com/wiki/configuring+the+audio+and+updating+alsa+for+ubuntu+9.10)

or wait for Lucid Lynx and the 2.6.32 kernel

I have 2.6.32 kernel.
Have I put 'options snd-hda-intel model=touchsmart' at end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.config?

If you have exactly the same hardware

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#*

Codec: Analog Devices AD1984A
Address: 0
Function Id: 0x1
Vendor Id: 0x11d4194a
Subsystem Id: 0x103c2a82

You should not have to edit the alsa-base.config.
