Please support Debian too, Ubuntu One Client

Hi David,

I'm glad you're enthusiastic about Ubuntu One!

I think it would be great if Ubuntu One works in Debian. To make that happen, Debian needs to have Python 2.6. So, the change needs to happen in Debian rather than in Ubuntu One Client.

For this reason, I'm going to set the status of this bug to "invalid" for Ubuntu One Client.

I did find this blog that describes how to make a Python 2.6 package for a Debian system. Maybe this will be useful to you:

Note that according to the Squeeze (next version of Debian) Release goals http://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/Python2.6 , Python 2.6 is to be the standard.

Now that Squeeze is next in line (ie. currently the 'unstable' testing version of Debian, it seems appropriate to turn this back into a valid new bug.

I will mark this one as Invalid/wishlist .

We will support any effort to package the Ubuntu One client for Debian. If any assistance is needed, please file specific bug reports with the problems you are experiencing.

This is quiet old but still valid, I'm trying to use Ubuntu on desktop and Debian based SolydK Linux at laptop. But I have no easy option to work with my ubuntuone.

Please Take care of it, do some effort to have Ubuntuone on Debian too. Should be easier than creating Windows and Mac support.

At least with some allinone package.
