Bug Description

After rebooting the system when the proprietary Nvidia driver has been installed, X starts but doesn't display anything.

Please notice that using the vga driver, there isn't any xorg.conf configuration file in /etc/X11/ (not sure if that's normal)

Linux 2.6.31-5-generic #24-Ubuntu SMP Sat Aug 1 12:48:18 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G84 [GeForce 8600M GT] (rev a1)

I'm going to reinstall Karmic Alpha 3, reinstall the Nvidia driver and add some logs.

Right after installing the Nvidia driver and before rebooting, the installation created an xorg.conf file with only this in it's content:

Section "Screen"
 Identifier "Default Screen"
 DefaultDepth 24
EndSection

Section "Module"
 Load "glx"
EndSection

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Default Device"
 Driver "nvidia"
 Option "NoLogo" "True"
EndSection

As a comparison, this is the xorg.conf file in Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 on the same exact machine with the Nvidia driver installed (and working).

Wth? Somehow the Nvidia driver seems to work correctly this time after the second time I reinstalled Alpha 3... Seem like this bug report isn't needed anymore.
