Bug Description
I installed Ubuntu Jaunty on my HP 6735s amd64 and needed to run the ATI installer for my Radeon HD3200 correct display driver... anyway. Few days ago it happens that when starting up and login, Compiz don't start and i have no decoration borders on windows and this is very very very annoying.... I also noticed that if i add an entry in "startup applications" to run "compiz --replace" and activate it, it won't work either. The only thing i can do is to right-click in fusion icon and select "reload window manager". I ran the ATI installer again, because the driver stop working since las kernel update (display drivers shoulw compile themselves automatically when new kernel is installed...) and the bug persist. Other thing may be related to this is that Gnome-Do is not loading at startup too, and i check the box "start automatically on login"...
One final comment to us to think about is that this type of problems with "display" and "drivers" makes people run away from Ubuntu and may be compiz is not the right choice for the default window manager since it can't take a kernel update or can't load itself on startup, it's like BSOD in Windows... anyway i'm too used to compiz flexibility and plugins that makes my work easier and i hope compiz become more and more stable as the time goes by.
any ideas?
tell me how can i help...
Best Regards.
