Bug Description

This is on a Sony Vaio P21Z with codec Realtek ALC262.

The sound from the internal microphone is not routed properly as it only records amplified static noise. As there is no specific info for this model in hda_intel, I have tried forcing all the models listed in http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt for this codec. However, none of them were able to route sound correctly.

I have verified that the microphone works properly under Windows in the same computer.

This is just to confirm that this is fixed in current ALSA snapshots setting model=toshia-s06, but no in version 1.0.20.

In case someone finds this bug looking for a fix:

The bug is almost gone in karmic provided that you use the linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic and manually set the option model=toshiba-s06.

Hi Miguel,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 405223

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

It works fine with upstream 2.6.33. I'll test with a lucid live cd shortly.
