libopencore-amr is an opensource (apache-2 licenced) library for AMR-NB decoding.
(It is unclear if it supports AMR-WB for now - as ffmpeg page claims it is negative)

As libamr support in ffmpeg has been removed for known licence problems,
there has been also added support for (external) libopencore-amr into ffmpeg http://ffmpeg.org/

I've verified the debian package builds fine in ubuntu. Including this package would bring is finally a very often requested feature to ubuntu: AMR support.

There are already a lot of bugs in ubuntu related to amr (just search for 'amr'). I believe most of them can be closed if this package is accepted.
