Bug Description

I have an HP mininote 2133. When I upgraded to 9.04, when I boot, I can only go into low-resolution mode. I do not know how to fix this. I reported the issue on http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7385120&postcount=20, which cointains my files.

The forum has not helped. I have all the latest patches installed.

Please tell me how to fix this.

After the autogen step, there was no Makefile. I had Makefile.am and Makefile.in. I am thinking they are for amd or intel, but the MiniN ote is a Via processor. So what do I do?

Also, ./configure (which I tried) had many unresolved dependencies

@jarome: try running 'sudo apt-get build-dep xserver-xorg-video-openchrome' first

Redoing this fixed the problem, but it was harder than necessary.
I changed the wiki to reflect the extra package that needs to be installed.

But now my wireless has stopped working :-(.

The problem must be in xorg.conf. The one that
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver.org
made had almost nothing in it (see attached xorg.conf.new).

But the old one had lots in it. I copied it to xorg.conf and rebopoted, and got low graphics mode again.
And wireless is now still very dead.

patch -p0 < patch-file-name-here

does not really tell me how to apply the patch. At which stage? in which directory?
I have an openchrome directory with a src subdirectory.

I tried the patch in the openchrome directory and it seemed to work. But remaking and reinstalling did not change anything.

Since it works with a totally plain xorg.conf file, there must be something wrong with mine (the one generated by 9.04). But what is it?

I think this bug appear because there is problem with v4l.

Try to disconnect TV and try again.

Try add the Option "ForcePanel" to your xorg.conf file
Try also:
Option "ActiveDevice" "LCD"

I do not have a TV on my netbook.

Under which section do I add these options?

jarome (jamesrome) wrote :

I tried putting them into the monitor section below the different resolution modes. No change!

I also commented out the HP2133 TV section

The man page is not updated.
After you type:

   svn update

in your openchrome source directory, your source code will be update to the newest one (trunk).

Or you can download source code from beginning, by type:
   svn checkout http://svn.openchrome.org/svn/trunk openchrome

Don't forget to:
In section Section "Device"

Change
  Driver "via"
to
  Driver "openchrome"

Please attach your current xorg.conf file

Finally it worked :-)

The key was to tell me to change "via" to "openchrome". The instructions say to change vesa, and there was none. Also, there are several Device sections in the xorg.conf file, so I never knew which to change.

And I guess the version got updates since July 7 also. If not, the installation instructions on the OpenChrome page are wrong.

Thanks,
Jim
