Bug Description

The Get Hot New Stuff functionality button is inconsistent throughout the KDE environment. It should be fixed so the same icon is used on all the buttons and the label follows the same guideline. This was discussed in the May 13 KDE usability meeting [1] [2]. Jeremy Whiting is the upstream GHNS maintainer.

Apps which use .knsrc. jpwhiting says these are most of the apps which probably use a custom KNS call and should use the KNS class he is working on.

Apps that still, as of this date, need attention:
Amarok: (Says Get More Scripts instead of Get New Scripts)
KOrganizer: (Has a "Get Hot New Stuff" submenu entry in File:)
KSysguard: (Has a "Download New Tabs" toolbar button)

All the others seem fine.

It should also be noted that these changes must come from upstream, as Kubuntu does not have the translation manpower to make changing the strings in English to result in an advantage over these changed strings not being translated in as many languages as upstream provides.

Marking as incomplete in papercuts until list of affected apps is updated as list is 2 years old.

Has anything happened with this? Has it been fixed and just not mark as so here?

Closing the papercut task on this since the list of affected apps is desperately out of date. If anyone is able to provide updated information, specifically

* What apps are affected
* What the offending string currently says
* What it should say
* A step-by-step process to set the new string

then please fell free tor reopen it.

All of these should really be reported upstream.
