This would need to be done the same as the ubiquity install icon with a plasma-netbook-applicationrc file moved into place
see /usr/share/kubuntu-netbook-default-settings/share/config/moved_plasma-netbook-appletsrc in kubuntu-netbook-default-settings. Probably not worth it for karmic now I'm afraid.

ubiquity scripts/install.py line 2170 then needs to create the file named /usr/share/kubuntu-netbook-default-settings/share/config/plasma-netbook-appletsrc

Note I'm talking about Kubuntu Netbook, the normal Kubuntu setup works fine

if the icon is not going to be made available, should the OEM install option be removed from the kubuntu netbook images for karmic?

You can still run oem-config-prepare from a command line. Not very discoverable but OEM mode isn't for end users.

ok, in that case I think we definitely want a release note.

When using the OEM installation option on Kubuntu Netbook Edition, no "prepare for shipping" icon is placed on the desktop. Users who are doing OEM installations with Kubuntu Netbook Edition can instead run oem-config-prepare from the commandline. (386099)
