I also have an iPod 120GB classic which has suddenly refused to mount. It still appears in Disc Utility, but it shows up as having unallocated space. There is still music on the ipod, and I can access it from My Computer in Windows, but Windows tells me the file system is broken on it, and checkdisk doesn't fix it.

My ipod was able to mount to Ubuntu 10.04 fine up until yesterday.
