Display bug when reducing left column

Bug Description

When I reduce the left column, weird things are displayed, see video attached.
By the way, it would great that if the user double click on the sash bar or on the tabs at the left of the column, it disapears (or reduce). And to make it reappear the user just should click on one of the tabs.

Unfortunately it seems that there is currently no way to fix this due to a but in PyGtk. I already reported this upstream:

This patch allows for middle clicking the slash handle to hide or show the panes.

Issues:

1) Panes are hidden completely, including tabs. Could be simply fixed if the issue mentioned above is fixed

2) Double click somehow seems to always pull back the handle to the original position, single clicks work fine, thus the decision of using the middle click.

The main issue won’t be solved now. As soon as this is fixed in (Py)GTK, please reopen this report.
As for the toggling: Added with r2876.
