Bug Description

Look at https://lpstats.canonical.com/graphs/CodehostingPerformance/20090330/20090406/, if you can.

Preliminary investigation seems to show that the internal xmlrpc server is responding slowly to requests.

It's not much more than a hunch, but I think that this is something funny going on with PersonSet.getByEmail, which getUser calls -- uselessly, as we never pass an email address in any more. So not calling that may help -- but it would be nice to be sure.

In other news, the login process makes far to many calls to the authserver, and we can probably cut it down significantly...

Celso found that the problem (missing an index, basically) was fixed already, but that the fix hadn't been rolled out to all the places it should have been. It is now, and hopefully things will get back to normal.

The fixes I've been talking about are still useful, but can wait until the next normal rollout.
