Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Apport reported this bug after I rebooted from the installation of the ATI Catalyst 9.2 driver. Although the driver is visible in System -> Administration -> Hardware Drivers, it had not been enabled before this bug occurred. I had just opened the Hardware Drivers window when the bug was reported.

The os is Ubuntu 8.10 with the Proposed packages. The graphics hardware is reported by lspci to be
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]
The hardware is a Dell Inspiron 9100.

I think this bug most probably has more to do with the ATI drivers than Compiz. The ATI drivers earlier than 9.2 have not been working correctly with this hardware and Ibex 8.10. These problems are already in Bug #284408.
