Bug Description

My system an acer aspire 5100 stock will randomly freeze. It will not let me use the keyboard or anything, the capslock light is also blinking away (which I heard could be a kernel malfunction) I am a complete ubuntu beginner and so far like it... besides the crashing... If anyone could please help in complete laments terms I would appreciate it so much. This is my only computer and I need it for recording guitar tracks, which is way easier on ubuntu because it's faster and free. AND it's not windows. haha

Capslock blinking is the kernel indicating that it crashed very hard.

I just started having this problem on my Acer Extensa 5420 since upgrading to Jaunty. I assumed it was a hardware failure because of the caps lock blinking, but this tells me otherwise. System logs do not show any indication of a crash.

My processor is an AMD Turion X2 TL-58, if that is of any help.

Care to test and confirm this remains with the latest Karmic 9.10 release? ISO CD images can be found at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/ . If the issue remains please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories->Terminal):

apport-collect -p linux 322616
