Bug Description

The credits button in some About dialogs has a star next to it, but not
in others (contrast Evolution's Help -> About window with Nautilus' Help -> About window). Which is the standard?

Changed in nautilus:
assignee: nobody → gnome

Thanks for your bug. Have you tried the "dual" mode? Does it do what you expect? If not could you make a screenshot of the issue or attach an example?

In Dapper, Evolution's About window has a single star next to it. (New in dapper) other about Windows have a set of four stars.

A quick flick through the Gnome HIG[1] tells me that there isn't a standard icon for the credits button. Although, I just looked at about fifteen About boxes from different applications and the majority of them (mainly Gnome-intrinsic ones) used the icon with four stars. Evolution seems to be out of the ordinary in that respect. Of course, other apps have no standard at all and all have their own About boxes e.g. firefox, gaim, xchat etc.

Conclusion: evolution is bucking a Gnome application trend by only having one star on its About box credits button (therefore I'm confirming this bug) but if you consider all of Ubuntu's packaged apps , it's just another different looking About box.

I think this bug is more suited to upstream attention.

Evolution still uses a GNOME about dialog instead of a GtkAboutDialog.

There is a proposal to change all GNOME applications to a new layout of about dialogue - http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/AboutDialog
