Bug Description

Since 21 January 2009 Pidgin gives the following error message:
"The version you are using is not supported by ICQ. Download a free authorized ICQ version from ICQ's official website."
It does not work after that. It seems that new changes on ICQ server have taken place.
My Ubuntu release: 8.10
Pidgin version: 2.5.2

Did this suddenly just stop working or was this after you setup pidgin for the first time on a system? I will look upstream to see if this has already been reported, if so I will link it to this report.

I'll also see what I can do about testing this issue.

Changed in pidgin:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Incomplete

Just stop working since 21 January. It is not duplicate -- all other alternative clients like qip or miranda affected.
