The current version of claws-mail that we have in Ubuntu is from Debian experimental. Currently, Debian does not have version 3.7.0. However, the Debian Maintainer for claws-mail appears to be active. I would suggest contacting the Debian Maintainer about getting version 3.7.0 into Debian. That way, we can both benefit from having an up-to-date version of the package in our repositories. Once you file a bug on the Debian BTS, please link it to this bug report so that we can monitor the status of it.

I'm going to hold off on uploading this update until the Debian Maintainer is contacted about getting 3.7.0 into Debian.

3.7.0 has just been uploaded to Debian experimental. I doubt that 3.7.0 will move to unstable until after Lenny is released. We have also merged this package from Debian experimental in the past. As a result, I think it would be fine if you prepared a debdiff to merge this package from Debian.

Please note, at the time of this comment, 3.7.0 still has not been built in Debian. As a result, you might need to wait a little while before requesting a merge.

Would be nice if you could have 3.7.1 in 9.04 instead of 3.7.0 ;)
