Bug Description

I experienced bug 308387 with a recent upgrade. The crash reporting tool registered the failure. I clicked through the wizard to report the bug but when it opened launchpad I got a page not found error instead of the bug reporting page. The browser's URL was

Hello, I had exactly the same problem a few days ago! ( "Lost something? There’s no page with this address in Launchpad.") I wanted to report a bug which apport told me about, but the page apport opened in firefox was not available.) Dunno if this bug report should be filed against apport or launchpad or ...
Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in apport.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I can confirm this behavior. On both of my machines (x64 and 32-bit), with apport enabled, crash reports stop at the "Lost Something?" page as described above.

Yesterday I had this problem again. I waited two minutes, then clicked on "reload" and then it worked. Maybe the server is sometime just really slow? Launchpad itself is not so fast...

Happened for me when I tried launching apport in --file-bug --pid mode with both apport-cli and apport-gtk. The workaround proposed by goto (wait a moment, then refresh) seems to have worked.

Is everybody here also using Intrepid?
I have added Launchpad itself to the bug report as a possible cause of the problem since it seems that the links sometimes work on refresh.

Hi Connor and all,

If the problem was a timeout on Launchpad, it'd display an OOPS page informing that the problem was a timeout, not a 404, so I'm marking this as Invalid to Launchpad itself.

Cheers!

Úrsula

OK, thanks Úrsula. Would you happen to have any other ideas about the source of the problem given the behavior explained in this bug report? I'm not entirely convinced it's only an apport problem.

For me this is of course a Launchpad bug too, because the link that apport gives is correct, it works later. And Launchpad shows that the page doesn't exist, so this is a bug in Launchpad imo. Later the page is working.

I reopen that. If someone knows better, please correct me.
