Bug Description

Binary package hint: meld

Launch Meld from the commandline with two directories as arguments. This brings up its main window, which updates itself to show the directory contents, color coded according to the differences in the files they contain. Selecting a file which is marked in red (indicating that there are differences in the file contents in the two directories) normally allows the "copy to left", "copy to right", and "delete" toolbar buttons to become active. However, this is not working with the current version (1.1.5-1-2ubuntu2, on Intrepid). The buttons stay grayed out and there is no way to actually reconcile the two versions of the file.

Thank you for taking your time to report this issue. I am however not
able to reproduce this bug in meld-1.2-0ubuntu1 (see attached
screenshot) which is the current version in the jaunty archives. Can you
please test this version and confirm if the bug is still present?

I would be glad to help by testing the current version. Can you point me to a procedure for installing a Jaunty package on my Intrepid?

You can download a .deb file for the package from this page:

Thank you for your help!

Tried the new Jaunty version. Same result: the copy buttons are grayed out.

I checked the gconf entries for Meld but didn't see anything suspicious there.

This is a really good app which I have used a lot in the past. Hopefully we can get this fixed soon!

Does this problem happen for all directories you compare or is it only
happening on some comparisons? If it is only some, can you attach a test
case with two directories that when compared in meld triggers this bug?

It's happening with all I've tried recently (maybe 3 different directory pairs).

Confirmed in 1.2-0ubuntu1 on Jaunty.

Steps to reproduce:
1. mkdir /tmp/a /tmp/b
2. touch /tmp/a/2 /tmp/b/2
3. meld /tmp/a /tmp/b
