Well the problem is that the original kde4 installation (beta 1) contains more icon files from oxgene theme. Koffice-data-kde4 package also contains some icons that have the same name and installation path. So apt prevent them to be overwritten.
You can find the conflicting icon files on the deb package, and delete it. It solves this bug.

I have used dpkg to recover from this bug...
cd /var/cache/
sudo dpkg --force-overwrite -i koffice-
sudo apt-get install -f
The name of the koffice-data-kde4 package might be different.

Er, I retract that analysis... while the original Oxygen doesn't have those icons as scalable SVGs, the 16x16 versions (and only those) exist in the icon theme. That is probably a bug, hopefully I can sort this out for the final 4.2 release so that those will be gone from the kde-icons-oxygen package automatically.
Jakob Petsovits (jpetso) wrote : | #7 |
ok, I renamed the object-* icons in KOffice - still compatible due to icon fallbacks - so the next beta release should not clash with core Oxygen anymore. (And the kde-icons-oxygen package can keep its icons.)
Jakob Petsovits (jpetso) wrote : | #8 |
Oh, just noticed that KOffice put out a new beta today. They obviously tagged it a week ago already, which means that KOffice beta 5 will still have the clash (and it will be gone in beta 6).

(For reference, the fix was r910421 in KDE SVN. You might consider backporting it to the Kubuntu package.)

They released a kernel update that broke thousands of machines and they

I could not wait any longer for a fix. I backed up all of my important
data and completely reinstalled the operating system. I have not had any
problems at all since doing so....

There is no fix in the world of KUbuntu and may never be. I "fixed" it
by scrapping Ubuntu and installing OpenSuSE 11.1.

What's the problem? Open konsole and type
sudo rm /usr/share/
sudo rm <path to other files, that couldn't be owerwritten>
aanno (thomas-pasch) wrote : | #39 |
Hey,
I like the rm stuff and got to the same point with:
sudo dpkg -i --force-all koffice-
But why stopping here? http://
Sincerly, this is *not* the way it should work. It should work for non-nerds and without any rm or --force-all. It should work right out of the box. This is bug and it should be fixed...
Cheers,

Seems resolved with the latest updates on Jaunty.
Jonathan Thomas (echidnaman) wrote : | #41 |
Yes, this has been fixed in Jaunty for quite some time. So please don't reopen the koffice2 task.
It still affects Intrepid backports, though, which is why that task is still open.

I made some changes on package koffice-data-kde4 to fix that bug. However it's not official I will upload it somewhere in few hours.
