Bug Description

Kubuntu 8.04 KDE3

i think the problem is in the following package:
lame:
  Installato: 3.97-0.0
  Candidato: 3.97-0.0
  Tabella versione:
 *** 3.97-0.0 0
        500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/multiverse Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

When you put an audio cd in the cd-rom reader, you can open the cd and find the mp3 dir
if you copy the dir content on your pc you can see that the encoding of the filenames is good,
but if you open them with amarok you can see that the mp3 tags are wrongly encoded.
It' seems to be saved as ISO-8851-1 instead of UTF-8

Of course you can reproduce the error only if the there is a track with a title that contains a char with axcents or "strange" chars

affects: ubuntu → lame (Ubuntu)

lame is really just an encoder and does not have functionality to actually rip from audio cd. This is done by some other application using lame. based on your report, I suspect this is amarok in your case.

Amarok 1.4.x is unmaintained and will not be receiving any further bugfixes. Thanks for understanding.
