system hangs frequently after upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10

Bug Description
After upgrading from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10, my system frequently hangs, more times a day
installed following back-ports (withouth result)

find some strange stuff in the logging before the "hangup", will add the last relevant parts from messages, syslog en kern.log
most errors seems the same.
