Bug Description

Binary package hint: bluez-gnome

With the latest version of bluez-gnome on intrepid (1.8-0ubuntu1), if I select "Never display icon" in the General tab of the Bluetooth preferences, the tray icon effectively disappears. But the following time I log into gnome, the icon reappears. The "Never display icon" is still set in the preferences and the only way to make the icon disappear is to select another choice in "Notification area" (like "Always display icon") and then switch back to "Never display icon".

Yes, this is confirmed.
If you open the preferences panel, and select "Show always" and then "Don't show" the icon dissapears, until next session.

The attached patch fixes this bug. On startup, the applet doesn't check every possible configuration option.

It'd be good to pull this in as an update later as an SRU. In the meanwhile, please submit it upstream and see that they accept it.

bluez-gnome was replaced by gnome-bluetooth in recent version of ubuntu, and thus solved this issue.
