Bug Description

Binary package hint: ksplice

I am one of the developers of Ksplice, and we would like to request that the ksplice 0.8.7 package be removed from Intrepid. We have also requested that ksplice 0.8.7 be removed from Debian Lenny.

Ksplice 0.8.7 was an early version of Ksplice; it does not work with Intrepid’s 2.6.27 kernel, and it has various other problems that make it unsuitable for general use. The Ksplice 0.9.x releases include extensive improvements, but we realize this upgrade would probably be unrealistic this late in the Intrepid release cycle (also, we are still working to resolve an incompatibility with the CONFIG_FTRACE option in Intrepid’s kernel configuration).

We hope that Ksplice can be included with Ubuntu in the future, but for now we believe Ubuntu users would be best served by removing the 0.8.7 package from Intrepid.

I did not blacklist it, so it will come back in Jaunty if it still exists in Debian unstable at that time. Please let us know if that is undesired. Thank you!
