Bug Description

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

After upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid, the fast-user-switch-applet was added to my panel, but it was missing the Suspend and Hibernate menu items.
When I add new instances of the applet with right-click -> add to panel, these new instances don't have the problem. They show the full menu with Log out, Suspend, Hibernate, Restart and Shut down items.

Exactly the same here. I suspect that the applet starts before g-p-m and is unable to get suspend/hibernate availability.

I've had a similar issue, but I've found a solution for my machine. In my opinion it is not the fault of fusa, but of libcanberra - see Bug #276072.

Applying the patch on comment 1 of bug #276072 solve the problem for me too. Here is the modification others can try :
- Edit /usr/share/gnome/autostart/libcanberra-login-sound.desktop
- Change the line "X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Desktop" to "X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Applications"
- Save and exit

If this works for others, this bug is a duplicate of bug #276072.
