Bug Description
Commonly, I would like my images to have a margin of at least a few pixels. But the only way to do that is to create an invisible object that is sized right. If the image size changes, you have to find that object and change its size to match. It would be better if a margin could be set in the File Properties box. Then when you set the file size, the margin would be taken into account.
I assume the SVG format doesn't provide for a margin, so Inkscape might have to fake it in the meantime. This would have the margin saved as an Inkscape specific tag or attribute. Inkscape would then update the file size whenever the margin is set.
Long term however, we need native margin support in the SVG standard. This would let the presenter deal with the margin rather than Inkscape. All Inkscape would have to do is store the margin data. The image size would NOT take into account the margin.
I think this sort of thing are under the scope of CSS style, which Inkscape don't handle yet.
