Bug Description

Binary package hint: knotes

I have updated from Hardy with KDE 4.1 packages from launchpad.net to Intrepid (20090917).

knotes still uses the old .kde4 directory:

$ find .kde4 -atime -1
.kde4
.kde4/share
.kde4/share/apps
.kde4/share/apps/knotes
.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes
.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes/libkcal-188432127.787
.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes/libkcal-74300021.371
...

So I don't see my notes which I copied to .kde/... under Intrepid

Version:

4:4.1.1a-0ubuntu3

Check your config in the file .kde/share/config/kresources/notes
Maybe it just points to the old directory. You can delete that file and knotes defaults back to the correct location.

Thanks, that solved the problem. Is it a bug that the new directory .kde isn't used by knotes after an upgrade?

Yes, no, maybe, in theory.
The problem is really that the config stores the complete path by default, which is of course not very portable. Then again I am not sure how far we really support .kde4 -> .kde, considering the former could in theory store stuff from KDE 4.0 which is also not very supported to upgrade to KDE 4.1.

I'll leave it up to you, to close the bug or leave it open. I am going to raise a discussion about this at the next Kubuntu meeting.

Ok, closing now. We do not support .kde4 => .kde.
