Bug Description

I' ve been trying for a while to get flash working (with firefox) and I always face the same "...get latest Flash..." message in youtube for example. The strange thing is that flash works correctly with epiphany-browser (which I use currently!).

Details below:

nik@vertical:~$ uname -a
Linux vertical 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 17:53:40 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

nik@vertical:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
#Initially an upgrade from Gutsy then a clean Hardy installation performed

#I used/linked to the npwrapper.libflashplayer.so which is to be found under the /var/lib/flash-nonfree/ directory!!

Does about:plugins in firefox show "Shockwave Flash" installed as npwrapper.libflashplayer.so?
Did you install the package from the repository - flashplugin-nonfree or using the installer direct from adobe?

I think flashplugin-alternative.so is part of swfdec and should be removed when flashplugin-nonfree is installed. If it isnt it is a conflicting flash plugin.

Just FYI,

flash works with Epiphany and Opera but not with Firefox and Galeon in my system. I've bombed Kilz' sticky thread with questions and still no way to get the Flash Player working under Firefox 3.
