Bug Description

A thinkpad 2656 IGU Freezes after opening multiple Firefox windows with Unbuntu 8.04. Firefox works fine under window XP on the same machine. (622 MB Memory, Celeron 1133 MHZ, 32.7 GB Disk space available.) The only apparent fix is to power down and back up. Ubuntu by itself doesn't appear to freeze. I usually takes 20 minutes or so for this to happen.

I did not expect the system to freeze somewhat randomly when on the internet. (The laptop is connected via a Linksys WPC54G ver3 with Broadcom 43b Wireless Driver)

I guess this is no Ubuntu package, Firefox 3.1 is not yet in Ubuntu

My mistake - it is Firefox 3.01 - and yes it was a standard downloaded
package.

I have had in on for while but can only get 20 minutes or so when Firefox is
on. If I leave the computer on all night without Firefox it is still
running (although the wireless card was attached and running during that
time)

Last night I had it on with Firefox and tried a hand of solitaire and it
froze. The common thread in Firefox connected to the internet.

this was set as invalid due to the incorrect foxfire level, but in actuality it is valid since the code is standard Unbuntu 8.04 with Firefox 3.01 and the problem remains - the system freezes as described. If there is anything else I can do to document this please let me know.

I am a newbie at this so what do I do next to keep the machine from freezing
- use Google Chrome or some other browser?

The system continues to freeze with Firefox - have to force a power down. Is there something that I need to be noting of dumping from the system. I don't know anything about Ubuntu, but am willing help if supported. Or should I just boot with windows and move on.

This Bug is no longer valid - the machine was upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 and the Foxfire / system freeze up has gone away!
