Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

I am using a Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop. When I resume form the suspend state Knetwork Manager doesn't reconnect immediately. Initially it can find no wireless networks. However, after about a minute it comes back to life and re-connects. Resume works fine using KDE 3.5.

Using Hardy 32 bit.

Ian.

Same here, I have a atheros wifi card, I have to rmmod and reinsert ath_pci, so I don't really believe this is an issue with knetworkmanager (at least not in my case) but possibly acpi tools or kernel based?

Same here, only if I wait the connection never comes back up. It must be re-established manually by re-selecting the AP.

Another annoying part of this problem is the fact that, when the user's desktop session is being resumed, the web browsing sessions attempt to resume immediately, instead of waiting for the network connection to first resume. This is a huge problem since any browser tabs which try to reload will fail.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Kubuntu better. The KDE3 version of KNetworkManager has been discontinued by its original authors. This unfortunately means that there will be no more bugfix releases, and updates in general will be limited to those fixing security flaws.

While we cannot fix your bug, the good news is that the applet has been totally rewritten for KDE4 in the upcoming Kubuntu 9.10 release. There is a good chance that this bug is no longer an issue with the new applet. If you find any similar or new issues with the applet included in Kubuntu 9.10, we would politely ask you to file them as new bugs against the "plasma-widget-networkmanagement" package.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
