Bug Description

I can not reproduce it stable enough, because sometimes my system just boots without a glitch, and sometimes it hangs (I do not use "quiet" and "splash" boot options).

Mostly when it hangs I see as the last message: "* Setting the system clock"

Latest 2.6.26 kernel does not have this problem.

Hi Alexey,

When you are able to trigger the system hang when attempting to boot the 2.6.27, would you be able to take a digital picture of your screen of the messages output prior to the system hanging? Could you then attach it to this bug report? Thanks.

Thanks Alexey,

Can you try disabling your wireless prior to booting (I assume you have some sort of kill switch you can flip). I'm curious if this might be a duplicate of bug 263059. The reporters there seem to describe the same issue you see here and also use the iwl3945 driver. Thanks.

What I did:
* On the running system switched off the radio
* a series of reboots: 3 went OK immediately (eureka?), then 2 failed, then a success again

I guess, the conclusion is trivial.

Having the exact same issue. Sometimes it's working and sometimes it's hanging

I completely switched off wireless via BIOS and the system boots stable (10x reboots, no problems). Hence, the problem indeed in iwl3945 driver. Will mark this bug as duplicate of bug 263059.
