Bug Description

Binary package hint: qtparted

The QtParted package does not install the qtparted-root wrapper script, this stops the user from launching QtParted from the desktop.

TEST CASE:
Install the qtparted package and attempt to launch it from the menu. You will receive a "Command not found" error.

Tested last update qtparted-0.4.5-4ubuntu2, launched Thu, 11 Dec 2008, still requesting (old) wrong startup-file

Jaunty - 9.04
kernel 2.6.28-2-generic
Gnome Desktop

So same to me - but I changed the exec-line of >>qtparted.desktop<< (usr/share/applications/) from

qtparted-root -> into --> "gksu qtparted"

to provide starting with root-accessibility successfully!

Same problem here tried suggestion of changing command launch in /user/share/applications and now I get "Failed to execute child process "gtparted-root" (No such file or directory).
Hpwever if I run as sudo from cli (sudo qtparted) it works.
OK as I was typing I realized that I was trying to launch from menu bar so I went to edit menus, applications>system tools>qtparted right click properties and changed command to gsku qtpated and it runs not sure if it's 100% functional, will test and report IF not.

Shouldn't the first exec not have $auth? It's not even set there and AFAICS isn't needed.

Please target the SRU debdiff to intrepid-proposed.

The first $auth is not needed so I removed it, I also fixed a small bash-ism in the script

THis patch drops debian/postrm completely. This cleans up the log files on purge, which is the right thing to do. Where is that duplicated?

It doesn't drop it, it was just duplicated. As if pasted twice into the same file.

This bug was fixed in the package qtparted - 0.4.5-4ubuntu1.1

---------------
qtparted (0.4.5-4ubuntu1.1) intrepid-proposed; urgency=low

  [ Terence Simpson ]
  * Actually install qtparted-root (LP: #257220)
  * Edit qtparted-root:
    - Check if the user is already root
    - Use xmessage to display the error message, as the script will normally
      be running in X
    - Remove duplicated parts
  * Edit debian/postrm:
    - Remove duplicated parts

  [ Iain Lane ]
  * debian/qtparted-root: Do not check for gnome-panel when searching for
    gksu{,do} - it may not be running.
  * debian/rules: Depend on x11-utils for xmessage
