I'll do this, but for the new 1.8.1 version. I need to first get goocanvasmm sponsored into Jaunty and then huats needs to have his bakery2.6 upload sponsored. But I have a working package locally so I have every reason to be hopeful.

What's the status of this? Are you still waiting on goocanvasmm getting into Jaunty? Where can we follow that?

goocanvasmm is in. We're just waiting for bakery2.6 to clear NEW now - see http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/+queue for that. Shouldn't be too much longer.

Status update: 1.8.4 should now be in pretty good shape, but there's a blocking crash bug. I've reported it upstream and am hopeful for a resolution. If not, we can still push 1.8.3 for Jaunty if needs be.

Hah, the crash bug is fixed. I backported that patch from SVN and now it seems to work fine. Here's an updated package. It's been a long journey, but we're nearly there.

glom (1.8.4-0ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * New upstream release, fixes LP bugs:
    + Don't crash when showing and then hiding the grid (LP: #303453)
    + Temporarily remember the sort order so it is the same when navigating
      away and back (LP: #303422)
    + Use the list's sort order for the top-level records in the report
      (LP: #303425)
    + Users/Groups: Disable drag-and-drop for the treeview, because it is
      useless and confusing (LP: #299573)
    + Import: Sort the fields list alphabetically (LP: #306593)
    + delete primary key make unusuable the database (LP: #299549)
    + Spanish translate incomplete (LP: #299556)
    + import date format error (LP: #299591)
    + can't delete data from table list view (LP: #299853)
    + Field definition: default value not saved (LP: #299896)
    + reports crashing (LP: #300054)
    + Year error with date fields (LP: #300057)
    + list view: 2 records added instead of 1 (LP: #300819)
  * debian/patches/15_document_table_info_creation.patch: Fix crash when
    creating tables. Will be in next 1.8 stable release.
  * debian/patches/20_goocanvasmm_api_fixes.patch: Remove CANVAS_ prefixes
    from some goocanvasmm calls due to API changes. Will be in next 1.8 stable
    release.
  * debian/control: Refreshed dependencies for libglom-dev.
  * debian/control: Updated build-deps to match configure checks.
  * debian/rules: Don't delete the directory containing the templates.

I'm working (with huats and others) on getting all the necessary dependencies into Debian. I heard it's a very nice place for applications such as glom to live. He'll like it there.

Please sponsor this!

***SPONSORS***: Please wait until bug #313533 is sponsored and published before uploading this. The dependency must be on the newer version.

Here's a new version, which fixes some warnings thrown up by a newer version of Lintian than I had installed. Thanks sebner.

Good to sponsor now, btw. Note the tight build-dep I specified on goocanvasmm. Perhaps it doesn't matter, as old versions are gone now, but this is semantically correct. Nix it if you'd like though, dear sponsors.
