rhythmbox player does not play anymore

Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The player was working the last time I tried it. I press play and the button depresses but the timeline does not progress. This applies to Music, Radio stations and the two default stores. Sound works on youtube so I think sound is ok. I can also hear the login sounds.

there isn't too much on the log, did you try the same with another user? what did you installed a codec? Deos totem behave the same way? Are you using pulseaudio?

You hit the nail on the head Sebastien. From warm boot. Tried player and it works fine, all features play as normal.

1. Opened, firefox started a youtube video. now player does not work as described above.
2. Stopped player, but left it open
3. went back to firefox and now there is no sound using flash
4. player still works but now no sound in flash

seems to be an another flash plugin issue

I have had this problem for a couple months now, even after a reinstall of 8.04 from scratch. After any Flash applet runs in Firefox, some external media players (like VLC) have no audio, others (like Totem and F-Spot) run very slowly or not at all. After I quit Firefox, the other programs work fine. Is there another bug report I should look at to find a solution?
