Bug Description

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04

App: Firefox
Website: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto.do
This page is to customize your "future PC". To reproduce it, fist go to a product, and click "Customize and buy".

Then if you click some radio buttons, you'll get firefox hanging (fade to grey, back to color, fade to grey, back to color...)
And if you force close it, you have to restart ubuntu ( or x ) to open it again, because "another instance is open".

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in firefox.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs, or upload (as an attachment) the crash report from /var/crash/.

Also, please answer these questions:
Is this crash reproducible? If so, which are the steps that lead to it?
Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which Firefox extensions do you have installed?

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Sorry, yes bug is on Firefox 3.0.0

/var/crash is empty. Even when firefox crashes.

Crash is reproducible. Steps:
1. Go to http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Processor&v1=AMD&a2=From+price&v2=%24500-%24800&series_name=dv5z_series
(by example)
2. Click "Customize & Buy", you will go to http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto.do
3. Scroll the page, click some radio buttons.. Scrolling will be slower, and slower.
4. CPU use raises 100% and it just crash.

Firefox extensions:
Download helper 3.2
Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 0.5
(both disabled to test)

Plug-ins (a lot, automatically included w/firefox & ubuntu install)
and Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124, also disabled. And still crashing.

Java packages installed (listed on synaptic) are shown on attachment

Regards.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently.

I've tried to reproduce this bug on Intrepid following your instructions, but it works great for me! I haven't experienced any crash or performance problem!

We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
