Shouldn't ask what to do with empty cd-r when Serpentine's already started

Bug Description

I just burned some audio files with Serpentine. Then i wanted to make another copy so
i put in a new cd-r. I then get the question what i want to burn on the disc (audio,
photo's, files) but i've already got a serpentine session running with a ready to burn
disc-layout. It should be obvious what i want to do in this case.

I think the current behaviour makes sense. Maybe I would like to do something else (first burn the latest flight-CD while polishing my to-be-burned audio-CD) before I burn the audio-CD. Shouldn't be changed - one click more is not a lot of trouble, but a system not just guessing what you would like to da (and offer an appropriate selection of options) but also taking action right away... is bad IMO.

If it is desired to change the behaviour the way you describe, then serpentine should place a lock on the CD burner (via hal, similar to nautilus-cd-burner).

Changed in gnome-volume-manager:

If I place a lock on the CD-Burner, through hal, won't the user be unable to eject it and thus insert the new blank-cd?

Serpentine, at one stage, probed for inserted media, but due to the instability of D-Bus I had to turn it off. Hopefully the new bindings are more mature.

No, the hal lock is only advisory to applications like gnome-volume-manager to not mount that particular device. It doesn't have anything to do with the door lock.

So, should Serpentine be active (lock it) in this case or should it not?

Well I guess you've already got my opinion :) However I do agree a bit with Kamome's point, i guess a user could be preparing cd A while burning cd B for example.
I wonder how other systems like Windows, MacOSX or KDE handle this?

The 'lock' method is broken (on the bindings side). We'll have to wait for gnome-2.16 in order to do this.

I think you can try it now with Gnome 2.19.5 :-)

I've just recently upgraded to Gutsy, thus i'm running Gnome 2.20.
I still get the "what do you want to do" dialog when Brasero or Serpentine is already running.

Could someone perhaps explain what ther fix in 2.19.5 means? I'd be happy to look into it.
